TAKE ACTION: Contact your Governor about COVID-19 Response
Join NRCAT in calling on your Governor to take steps to ensure that incarcerated people and corrections staff are protected during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our sisters and brothers behind bars who are incarcerated and those who work in facilities that house them, deserve protection, dignity and care.
Additional resources to share with your state officials:
A two-page PDF published by MASS Design Group on how to convert and design spaces for infection control, including design for social distance, not social isolation.
Coronavirus Guidance Documents from the Vera Institute of Justice for the Criminal and Immigration Legal Systems, focusing on prevention and containment of the virus.
COVID-19 Guidelines from AMEND, focusing on decreasing population density in correctional facilities to reduce the transmission risk in local communities..

Movie Night? Here are two social justice-themed movies we recommend for a movie night at your house:
-- Just Mercy, which is available now for purchase or rental on streaming services. Just Mercy is based on the story of Bryan Stevenson, a Harvard educated lawyer who has devoted his life to representing the wrongfully accused who have been sentenced to death.
-- The Report, now streaming on Amazon Prime. The Report is the story of the U.S. post-9/11 CIA torture program, and the political drama of the Senate Intelligence Committee's investigation which led to the U.S. passing new laws banning torture in 2015. NRCAT advocated for an end to U.S. torture throughout the period depicted in the film, and was a key part of this victory. The Report has graphic scenes of torture, so it's not suitable for young children.
