Contact Your U.S. Senators & Representative: Oppose Expansion of Immigration Detention
The Trump Administration is moving to triple the size of the U.S. immigration detention system from a capacity for 40,000 people to 120,000. This expanded capacity would include 30,000 people to be detained at the U.S. military base in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba and at least four new 10,000-bed ICE detention centers – as well as 14 smaller scale facilities, each with the capacity for 700-1,000 people.
These plans will require a massive infusion of resources from the federal government to pay for the construction and staffing of new large-scale detention facilities on military bases and elsewhere. Much of that money will be going into the pockets of private prison and military contractors.
Take Action: Write to your Members of Congress to urge them to stop these cruel policies by denying the resources needed to carry out this immoral expansion!
Thank You
