Twenty years after it opened, the detention center at Guantanamo Bay remains a symbol of our nation's use of torture, and a place where even now, some 15 years after they were first captured, most of the remaining prisoners have never been charged or tried for any crime. The prison at Guantanamo Bay costs more than $13 million per prisoner per year to operate, and is both immoral and counterproductive to our national interests. Former President Bush and former President Obama both agreed that the prison at Guantanamo should be closed.
Please tell the Biden Administration and Congress that you support closing the prison at Guantanamo.
To Congress & President Biden:
It is time to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Many of the prisoners there were tortured and most have been imprisoned for a decade and a half without ever having been tried. It costs half a billion dollars a year to run the prison. It is wrong to continue holding prisoners without trial in an overseas prison, and it doesn’t make any sense to do so at such a high cost.
Please close Guantanamo now.
